Yerba Buena

Yerba Buena could be defined by the words of the famous Paul Groussac, who characterized it as “a happy and picturesque situation between the hills and the city”, more than a hundred years ago.
• Population: 55.000 inhabitants
• Height above sea level: 484 mts.
• Distance from San Miguel de Tucumán: 9 kms.

The name “Yerba Buena” started to be used at the beginning of the 18th century. It makes reference to the fertility of its soils, although another claim stands that the name derives from a kind of mint which grows naturally in the area.

The town has a variety of attractions, but it is indeed because of its dramatic landscape why it is called “Garden City”.
